Affordable Drip-line for smallholder farmers in Kenya

Drip irrigation is the key to sustainable agriculture. FarmLINK is pleased to introduce to you the newly simplified and affordable drip kit kadogo. FarmLINK Kenya is in the forefront of using and promoting the use of modern farming technology to increase food security in the country. Therefore, FarmLINK drip kit kadogo is made more affordable to smallholder farmers in Kenya for increased income and food production. It is very flexible and suit all farm types starting from kitchen garden to large scale. It can be scaled up to meet your farming needs. With kshs 7,500 only, the farmer is able to acquire the smallest kit.

Drip irrigation is the most efficient method of water and nutrient delivery system for growing crops. It delivers water and nutrients directly to the plant roots zone. Each plant gets exactly what it needs, in the right amounts and at the right time so as to grow optimally.

The adoption of this technology has put smile on the faces of many farmers within Kiambu region. We are targeting to reach as many as possible small scale farmers in the country.

Mr. Karoki, a farmer in Githunguri who adopted the system a month ago, is one of the many beneficiaries of  FARMLINK DRIP KADOGO. The happy farmer could not hide his joy as he was interviewed by our Project manager Mr. Michael Kaburi. It was all written over his face. He said, ‘’ FarmLINK Kenya drip kit kadogo is a pocket friendly system. I only spent Kshs. 7,500 for the installation and I can water my crops and have time to do other tasks at my farm”.

The system come with all accessories except the tank and it covers 250 sq. meter plot. I am able to grow 700 tomato plants because the system now does the watering work for me. I need not to use the horse pipe to apply water which took a lot of my time before. I am expecting a higher yield by September. Besides, Shadrack an agronomist at FarmLINK Kenya has really supported me in the crop pest and disease management.  In the previous seasons, I had faced many challenges in growing tomatoes due to pests and diseases”.
